Captcha OCR

Noise lines, colour, and odd fonts

2026-01-20 · Captchas

Digit and word captchas are drawn with lines and warped letters. The text engine is trained on that kind of picture.

A plain font on a white box is rare. Portals draw crossing lines, speckle, colour shifts, and letters that lean. The text model was measured on 465 mixed captchas from 46 sites: 88% matched the human reference, and 92.6% of the reliable answers did.

You do not pre-clean the image. Sending a filtered copy can remove the strokes the model expects. Send the original bytes.

Colour is not a separate option. JPEG and PNG both work. If the portal gives you a GIF of one frame, send that GIF. Animated noise is still one image to the decoder.

If a style is consistently unreliable, report the pattern and send a fresh captcha per attempt. Do not lower your own bar and submit reliable: false readings.
