What is a captcha?
2026-01-08 · Captchas
A captcha is a short image or puzzle a site shows before it accepts a form.
A captcha is a small test in front of a form, a search, or a download. The site shows an image or a puzzle and continues only when the answer matches. The usual kind on Indian portals is a picture: digits, letters, or a sum.
The picture is new each time you refresh. The expected answer lives on the portal for a short time, then it is thrown away. An old reading does not unlock a new page.
Captcha OCR reads that picture. Send it to POST /v1/solve and the text comes back in the same response, in about 25 ms for a text captcha. The reliable flag tells you whether to type it. Uncertain reads are free.
Checkbox widgets such as reCAPTCHA are a different system. This API reads an image you already have. It does not click tiles.
